Invuity, an SF Bay Area company that develops technologies to improve visualization during minimally invasive procedures and minimal access surgery, has announced the launch of the Eigr Saber Waveguide with Yankauer. The device provides advanced hand-held illumination along with the suction capabilities of a conventional yankauer. The hand-held device, that eliminates the dependency on headlights, uses optical waveguide technology along with a sophisticated array of integrated microstructures to illuminate an incision and provide a maximum field of vision.
The device has an ergonomic, low profile design to allow illumination in small places. Ergonomics and visualization can be further improved through a pistol grip handle and multiple tip configurations including a bulb tip and fin tip configurations. Deep anatomical cavities are uniformly illuminated without shadows and glares using thermally cool light that eliminates the risk tissue damage, melting of hospital drapes and fire hazards. The system is specially designed for orthopedic reconstruction and trauma surgery along with spinal, cardiac, breast and general surgery.
