While the pain of child birth is reserved to women, getting “hit in the nuts” is always a memorable time in a man’s life. Pain in the scrotal sack can also be caused by cancer, post-operative inflammation, testicular torsion, etc etc. A lot of the pain and swelling can be addressed with an ice pack, but those work well for relatively tough tissue, so properly cooling the genitals can be tricky and embarrassing in polite company.
Gallen Technology (Short Hills, New Jersey) is now crowdfunding the commercialization of a cooling sack that looks like an athletic safety cup but works like a nest to gently hold and cool, or heat, the family jewels. The company’s Epiditi device promises to deliver even thermotherapy and even has patents covering the underlying technology.
From the Epidity crowdfunding page on B-a-MedFunder:
Epiditi® is a patented thermal treatment device for injuries/diseases to the male genitalia. Epiditi® applies cooling and/or heating treatment directly to the scrotal area. It completely envelops the scrotal sac and the penile area. The purpose of the Epiditi® is to provide medically targeted therapy to mitigate post operative trauma, including pre existing penile torsion and/or twisting of the scrotal sac, post operative trauma complications of swelling, bruising, inflammation, hemorrhaging, pain and like diseases of the scrotum and/or penis.
