A persistent problem with brushing one’s teeth is the very act of brushing, which takes time, effort, and attention to detail to do it properly. But an upcoming product called Blizzident may change completely the way we brush our teeth.
Looking like a dental guard, the device has thousands of bristles positioned so that when the wearer chews on it, the bristles work to clean the teeth and massage the gums, all in about six seconds. Each Blizzident is created uniquely from a patient’s dental impressions so that the bristles are positioned most effectively to work on the user’s teeth. Because all the teeth are getting worked on simultaneously, the brushing process is significantly faster. All that’s required to start is to have your dentist make impressions of your teeth, have them digitized and sent along with $299 to Blizzident. A custom toothbrush you can chew on will come back in the mail.
From the product page:
All Blizzident-bristles are tailored to your own teeth. They are placed on the surface of your teeth in a 45 degree angle. They are also aligned exactly along your gumline in a 45 degree angle.
Additionally there are interdental bristles between all your teeth.
For tailoring we use a 3D model of your teeth (created from an impression or scan of your teeth by your dentist).
Traditional manual and electric toothbrushes clean only as well as your brushing technique and discipline is. And even with a good technique, there are always regions you cannot reach, because of the geometry of your manual/electric toothbrush and bristles.
Blizzident eliminates all those user errors completely. Just by biting a couple of times, you clean everywhere, and with perfect technique.
Blizzident bristle pressure is always the same, and within the correct limits. Whereas, when you brush by hand, often too much pressure is applied, and gums and teeth are harmed. And if not enough pressure is applied, the cleaning effect is reduced.
