Covidien is releasing the new Barrx Channel RFA Endoscopic Catheter for ablating bleeding lesions due to Barrett’s esophagus or other upper GI conditions.
The 7.5 mm transparent electrode can pass through a 2.8 mm endoscope channel and delivers carefully regulated RF energy from the control unit. It can be adjusted through the rotatable shaft and carefully positioned onto the ablation site thanks to the transparent electrode. Covidien promises fewer endoscope introductions for faster procedures, easier positioning, and improved preservation of healthy tissues compared to previous Barrx endoscopic ablation catheters.
