CryoLife of Atlanta, Georgia is bringing its HeRO (Hemodialysis Reliable Outflow) Graft to Europe. The device is indicated for patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) that have central venous stenosis and poor vasculature that can’t provide catheter access.
The HeRO Graft is designed to set up an arterial bypass from the heart to the upper arm, providing a more direct access to venous outflow. The system is promoted to reduce infection rates by 69 percent compared to tunneled dialysis catheters. The device received initial FDA approval in the U.S. five years ago.
