ArtVentive Medical Group out of Carlsbad, CA received CE Mark approval for its EOS device. Indicated for placing occlusions within blood vessels and other lumens within the body, the EOS works with 0.035″ guide wires and 6 and 8 french guiding catheters. It’s designed for work within the lungs, peripheral vasculature, neurology, cardiology, and for OB/GYN.
Once it’s brought to market, the company promises to offer occluding diameter sizes of 3.0 mm to 8.0 mm and even larger. It will come loaded on the delivery catheter and ready to use.
From the product page:
The EOS is designed as a catheter-based device employing flexible low-profile platforms as a delivery system. The device is offered in a range of diameters for different applications and can be placed in approximately five to ten minutes, depending on the surgery. It is anticipated this will have a number of positive benefits—including the reduction of overall medical costs, a significant reduction of exposure to patients and surgical teams with and a swifter recovery for the patient.
The EOS offers greater stability than current treatments. It reduces risk of vessel deflation via a means that also decreases the duration of the operation and causes a shorter segment of the vessel to be occluded.
The EOS device is also applicable for closing tubular structures such as airways and reproductive tracts
