Doximity, self-described as the “largest online physician network”, has now made its app available on the Apple iPad. The system allows secure communication between doctors including HIPAA compliant faxing with a complimentary fax number for all registered physicians.
The app was previously available for iPhones and Android phones and tablets.
From the press release:
Over the past two years, Doximity has seen significant growth in its platform with one in five US physicians joining the network. Doximity is the largest and fastest growing physician network in the US, surpassing 50,000 physician members in March 2012, 100,000 in October 2012, and now 160,000. Notably, more than 72 percent of US physicians already use tablets in their practice, with 81 percent preferring an iPad (Mobihealthnews, 2013; Manhattan Research, 2012).
Doximity for iPad offers expanded search capabilities that take full advantage of the device’s larger screen size. The app enables efficient HIPAA-secure faxing, including a free personalized fax number for every US physician. This provides a mobile digital alternative for the 15 billion faxes sent annually in the US healthcare industry. With Doximity for iPad, entire faxes can be viewed without scrolling and users can even add signatures and notes. A built-in fax directory has numbers for 707,000 US physicians and 60,000 pharmacies.
