Lark is a company known for its sleep trackers. Its Lark Original and Lark Pro devices wirelessly monitor your sleeping patterns, gently wake you up, and offer personalized advice on how to improve your sleep. This week, Lark announced that it’ll be entering the smart fitness tracker-bracelet market with the introduction of its newest product, called Larklife. Designed by a team that includes a Stanford neuroeconomist, a sleep coach to professional athletes, and a Harvard psychologist, Larklife not only tracks your fitness activity, but also coaches you to build better habits.
Like most other smart fitness bracelets and trackers out there, Larklife has sensors that can track steps taken, calories burned and distance traveled, but can also differentiate between walking and running. And, like other products, Larklife helps with diet tracking, but simplifies the process to a single button press on the wristband. However, Larklife takes the measuring and tracking capabilities further by providing personalized suggestions via an iOS app about small changes a user can make to feel better. According to Lark, the suggestions are based on “results of the user’s data being analyzed on the back-end by sophisticated techniques, developed by larklife’s team of experts and based on the science of circadian rhythms, or how individuals’ energy levels peak and dip.”
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Lark product without sleep tracking capabilities. Larklife includes the same technology as the other Lark products that track and analyze sleeping patterns and gently wake you with Lark’s patented vibration technology.
The entire Larklife system consists of three parts. A sweatproof and ergonomic wristband is worn during the day that was designed by the same team responsible for the popular Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. At night, you switch the “core” (the actual sensor unit) with a softer nighttime wristband, which is made of soft, breathable fabric. Finally, an iOS app syncs with both wristbands using Bluetooth technology, handles all the analysis, and displays personalized advice.
Larklife will cost $149.99 and will be available at retail outlets later this year, but you can pre-order one for yourself on Lark’s website.
