Having recently been used for the first time during brain surgeries at a hospital in Germany, Mazor Robotics‘ (Caesarea, Israel) Renaissance Robotic Surgery Guidance System has now been approved in the U.S. for work on the thinking organ.
The company expects its frameless treatment option to be used to precisely direct instruments for biopsies, shunt placements and neurostimulation electrode placement for deep brain stimulation. The system has already been approved in both U.S. and Europe for spinal surgeries.
