Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics, Rochester, NY, received CE approval for a new assay on the VITROS clinical chemistry platform. The 25-OH Vitamin D Total Assay on the VITROS provides first results within 24 minutes, speeding up processing for large clinical institutions.
This system works with standardized reagents and includes automated, integrated and compact analyzers that offer immunoassay and chemistry detection. These automated laboratory systems are meant to reduce human error and have a huge uptime producing 24/7 clinical chemistry and biomarker results for heart disease, cancer, endocrine disease, infectious disease, thyroid disease, metabolic conditions and anemia.
Samples are identified by bar code and the system supports several standard symbologies. It can store up to 80 serum, plasma, urine, CSF or whole blood samples but there is also a continuous load and unload mode. There is enough space to perform 11,440 runs with 150 reagents which are stable onboard for up to 84 days. Users can configure their own settings and protocols including extra reflex tests in the same or different assays.
A regular Ethernet connection enables an automatic two-way data exchange to the laboratory information system. System updates and remote operation control can be offered through the internet.
