Though TEDMED is a month away, the excitement is palpable. Medgadget will be there and many of our readers will as well. If you cannot make it this year, TEDMED recently announced a new program that will allow you to do the next best thing: be a virtual audience member through TEDMEDLive.
This Medgadget editor had the chance to speak with TEDMED’s CEO Jose Suarez, who had the following to say about the exciting opportunity:
TEDMED is for everybody who is passionate about the future of health and medicine.
Everywhere you look, there are dedicated individuals in the world of wellness who would make excellent potential Delegates to TEDMED. They can be found at America’s medical schools, research institutions, foundations, and think tanks. They’re at our nation’s teaching hospitals, non-profits, and health-focused corporations. They’re in health-oriented state and federal agencies. They’re in both medical and non-medical disciplines, too. Many of them are readers of Medgadget.
TEDMED recognizes that tens of thousands of these individuals simply cannot afford $5,000 to attend our 3½-day event in Washington, DC. Nevertheless, we want their ideas, their perspectives and their participation.
That’s why we are launching TEDMEDLive, a free nationwide remote simulcast of our Washington, DC stage program, direct from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
TEDMEDLive provides a real-time hi-def video for big-screen auditoriums at many institutions and organizations nationwide. TEDMEDLive broadcasts all 3½ days of our stage program: every session, every speaker, and every performer. TEDMEDLive gives health-focused organizations the opportunity to participate in TEDMED without cost.
TEDMEDLive is more than just passively watching inspiring presentations from remarkable speakers. TEDMEDLive is about coming together as a community and creating an event around the TEDMED content. Engaging in mind-blowing conversations with one another; interacting in realtime with the stage at the Kennedy Center through our TEDMEDConnect mobile app; experiencing the magic and power of the multi-disciplinary community that is TEDMED.
Between the conference itself, the TEDMED scholarship program, and TEDMEDLive, we hope that all interested readers get to participate in this year’s meeting. For more information and to apply to set up a TEDMEDLive viewing, follow the links below:
