Beckman Coulter Inc., based in Orange County, Calif, announced its Allegra X-14 High-throughput centrifuge. It is a benchtop centrifuge witha fixed-angle rotor and provides a maximum speed of 10,200 rpm with 11,400 X g. Swinging-bucket rotors achieve a maximum speed of 4,300 rpm with a rcf of 4,300 X g. The machine can be loaded with a diversity of tubes, bottles and plates and has a max capacity of 148 tubes per cycle.
Beckman Coulter offers different models which can be customized to laboratory needs. There is a refrigerated model, with a temperature range of 2 to 40°C, which can bring samples from room temperature to 4°C in about 4 minutes. The constant temperature model is pre-set to 20°C.
Another extra option is the ARIES Smart Balance rotor technology, which automatically detects and corrects sample-load imbalances of up to 50 grams. This will eliminate early stops and harmful vibrations for your samples.
The system is tested and validated to work with hazardous microorganisms and blood samples. These new instruments form a welcome extension to the Allegra benchtop centrifuge line.
