The AB SCIEX TripleTOF™ 5600 System is a groundbreaking mass spectrometry technology that is the fastest and most sensitive high-resolution mass spectrometer for qualitative and quantitative analysis.
This system represents a significant advancement in mass spectrometry, combining on a single platform the quantitative capabilities typically associated with triple quadrupoles and the qualitative capabilities of a high-resolution, accurate-mass system. The TripleTOF 5600 System is designed to enable new and better ways for scientists to conduct mass spectrometry experiments for a broad range of life science applications, such as discovering new drugs, detecting biomarkers, and aiding in food safety and environmental analysis.
The TripleTOF 5600 System delivers new innovations like the SWATH™ Acquisition technology, developed in collaboration with scientists at ETH Zurich. Existing high resolution and orbital trapping mass spectrometry systems can only qualitatively detect a subset of proteins in complex samples due to their relatively slow speed of MS/MS acquisition, and samples are often re-analyzed on additional instruments for better quantitation. SWATH™ Acquisition makes simultaneous quantitative and qualitative detection possible of all proteins and peptides in a single analysis.
SWATH™ is a complement to the MRMAtlas, which is a database that provides mass spectrometry-based assays to a large proportion of the human proteome. Scientists can use this to advance biomarker research, protein-based drug development and fundamental biological and biomedical research.
