The Windows Phone 7 Healthcare App Contest we mentioned a few months ago ended on June 1st and the results were recently released, giving us an opportunity to re-visit the WP7 app store and see the state of med tech apps there. The contest didn’t turn up much for healthcare professional: the most useful winning app is a measly pregnancy wheel.
Unfortunately, not much has changed in the rest of the app store either, but to keep track we’ll run down the WP7 status for the major med reference players in mobile health and some other big apps.
Epocrates:We asked a rep for Epocrates if they had plans for a WP7 version of their software and they replied that they were “currently investigating the Windows 7 platform and will update website with more details as they become available.”
Unbound Medicine: Yes!
Skyscape: Nope
Microsoft HealthVault: Yes! (though this took way longer than it should have)
Medscape: Nope.
Is WP7 being left behind in mobile health? Does it make sense for a physician looking for a smartphone to consider a WP7 device?
Microsoft: Contest Site with Winning Apps…
