Keller Medical has received CE approval for the Keller Funnel gel implant delivery device. The decidedly low-tech device looks like bag for applying frosting to cakes.
It has previously received FDA and Canadian approval and allows the surgeon to insert breast or gluteal implants through a tiny incision. The nylon device has a hydrophilic coating enabling a low friction insertion.
As the implant does not need to be touched directly, it might reduce infection rates (this is claimed by the company as believed by respondents). Furthermore, less force is required for insertion, lowering the chances of implant rupture.
