Siemens has launched a new miniature in the auditory canal hearing instrument. The instruments are custom-made for each individual customer to fit perfectly within the canal, practically invisible from the outside. The custom fabrication process goes as far as using computer-assisted technology to determine how the individual components can be optimally arranged in the individual housing shell. Because it is located deep within the hearing canal, it can make use of the ear’s natural, acoustic amplification. BestSound technology makes sure the sound is pleasant and improves speech comprehension. A fine, invisible nylon thread is used to pull the hearing system out. In all its wisdom, Siemens has decided that Americans like bright colors, while Europeans don’t want anything too fancy, so Europeans get the iMini in white with a dark-brown cap, where in the United States it will be offered in eleven colors that will still all disappear equally well in your ear.
