It’s an all too common story — a family is shocked with an unexpected medical event and, insured or not, is left with a stack of financially devastating medical bills. GiveForward, an online fundraising tool, aims to help families cope with this breed of financial distress by providing them the ability to easily create customizable fundraising pages.
The startup launched their platform in 2008 and since then they’ve helped their users raise nearly $3.5 million. They take a 7% commission to stay afloat but describe themselves as a “social venture,”, or a for profit company with the goal of maximizing impact rather than income.
