Crisalix, a Swiss spin-off of Institute of Surgical Technology and Biomechanics of the University of Bern and Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, has developed breast augmentation planning software that can simulate what the final result may look like. The e-Stetix online application takes frontal and lateral photos of the patient as input and helps the physician plot out various reference points. The result is 3D reconstruction of the breasts, including what they would look like with varying size implants. e-Stetix works via a browser, handing off the heavy calculations to the company’s servers, allowing just about any browser to be used in treatment planning. Seems like this would also be a popular tool for prospective patients to decide whether they want to get breast implants.
