IntriCon (Arden Hills, Minn) has launched its new APT Open in-the-canal (ITC) hearing aid. It is a miniature hearing aid with a size smaller than a dime that is placed within the external auditory canal. It features several of the company’s technologies, including Reliant CLEAR feedback cancellation, and AcousTAP Switch which changes user programs when the ear is patted instead of the hearing aid itself. Because of its size, it does not occlude the ear canal and it features a replaceable wax guard system. The device can easily be converted between being a left- or right-ear device.
