Fremont, CA based Biomerix has announced that its REVIVE mesh has received CE marking. REVIVE is made of “Biomerix Biomaterial,” which promotes tissue ingrowth by mimicking the body’s natural extracellular matrix. The material, which was FDA cleared two years ago, is primarily used to speed up recovery following hernia repair procedures.
Features of the mesh from the product page:
• The architecture of REVIVE functions as a three-dimensional scaffold, allowing autologous cells to migrate, attach and propagate, encouraging tissue granulation
• The long-term biocompatibility of the Biomerix Biomaterial, coupled with its 90-95% void content architecture, elicits a minimal inflammatory response
• A reduction in inflammatory response and associated scar tissue has been shown to result in significantly less mesh contracture as seen in a rat abdominal wall model1
• The pliable nature of the prosthetic allows it to conform to various anatomical structures
• Enables delivery, positioning and fixation of the mesh, without significant manipulation, either through an open or laparoscopic approach
• Can be trimmed perioperatively to ideally fit the anatomical or clinical application
