At RSNA 2010 we must have seen a thousand nearly identical ultrasounds, PACS systems, and X-ray detectors. Though they all have unique selling points, they’re essentially different variations of the same technology. So, when we saw a Pioneer digital turntable attached to a monitor displaying barium swallows, we knew there’s something new and nifty here. Turns out that physicians at Vancouver General Hospital wanted an easy and intuitive, nearly off-the-shelf way to review radiological clips. John Markez, an engineer at the hospital, took on the challenge and came up with a convincing and relatively cheap solution.
