Apollo Endosurgery out of Austin, Texas is announcing that its new OverStitch endoscopic full-thickness suturing system has been used in the first surgical cases involving humans. Dr. Santiago Horgan at University of California, who used the device to endoscopically close a gastric fistula, reports that “the device worked flawlessly in the esophageal environment” and believes it “will address a wide variety of previously unmet needs for tissue apposition throughout the GI tract.”
