Microline Surgical, Inc., a Beverly, Massachusetts based subsidiary of Japan’s HOYA Corporation, has launched its finger-activated laparoscopic instrument LapFinger.
A spokeswoman for the company tells Medgadget:
LapFinger is a device that mimics the ultimate dissection tool – the human index finger.
Many conventional instruments used to perform laparoscopic surgery provide a limited range of motion, which can increase the risk for inadvertent damage, compromise the surgeon’s ability to perform certain complex maneuvers and prolong surgical times. Modeled after the anatomical structure of the human finger, Microline’s LapFinger is a 5mm reposable instrument that provides the safety, ease of use and versatility to overcome these challenges and facilitate advanced general surgical and gynecological procedures.
