TriReme Medical out of Pleasanton, California is a company developing innovative interventional treatment options for patients with complicated coronary and peripheral arterial lesions. The firm has been in the news lately thanks to a $17 Million series D financing from a group of VCs, led by Singapore based EDB Investments. TriReme is specifically working on two products that we find interesting. One is called Antares® Coronary Stent, and it is designed for complex bifurcated disease, where preservation of access to the side branch is possible while the stent is being positioned and implanted. The other product is called Glider™ PTCA Balloon Catheter and it is, as the name suggests, “torqueable angioplasty balloon” that is designed to “cross through tight lesions and stent struts even in conditions where other balloons are challenged.”
Check out the following details about the Antares stent:
•The dual lumen design provides direct and continuous access to the side branch throughout the procedure.
•Its unique ostial preservation structure is designed to conform to bifurcation anatomy and preserve the side branch of the ostium while facilitating the proper treatment option for the side branch.
•Its peel-away shaft design prevents wire-tangling.
•Its unique torqueable shaft allows active rotational alignment. Combined with the radiopaque markers, Antares® may be placed with a high degree of precision and control.
•It treats all types of bifurcations and Medina classifications.
•It is able to treat a wide combination of main vessel and side branch diameters.
•Its unique ostial preservation structure is designed to conform to asymmetric ostial anatomy.
More about the Glider PTCA Balloon Catheter:
“Super shaft” construction
•Provides torqueability for the re-orientation of the tip away from obstacles
•Provides trackability and extra pushability over anatomical curves and through tight lesions
•Designed to provide additional stability during balloon inflation
Unique balloon
•Designed to minimize side branch injuries and/or dissections
•Optimizes side branch ostium expansion when treating bifurcations
State of the art tip design
•Low tip entry profile
•Facilitates recrossing through tight lesions and stent struts
