Some physicians prefer doing rapid intubations with a blade that has video capabilities, as visualizing the trachea can be difficult in some patients. However, devices that have video are much more expensive than those without, and require more power. Aircraft Medical is aiming to reduce that gap by introducing the McGrath MAC (as in Macintosh blade), a low-cost video laryngoscope.
From the press release:
Principally aimed at the routine, general intubations market, the new product has been designed to address increasing clinical demand and make video intubation technology more accessible to doctors world-wide.
We have contacted the company to see what the price of the device is going to be. The company will get in touch with us in the next couple of days to reveal their US pricing. Once we have the info, we will report it to you in a separate post.
