At the Freescale Technology Forum this year, Freescale Semiconductor has showed a prototype design for a hospital admissions kiosk that automatically takes much of the patient health data needed for intake forms. You can watch the video below about how the kiosk interfaces with the patients electronic medical record and can record weight, blood pressure, glucose level, heart rate, and pulse oximetry. The reference design in the video seems rather large, but Freescale foresees the technology, or what becomes of it, being portable enough to be placed in the home for longitudinal monitoring as well.
