Hitachi has previewed a new activity monitor at an exhibit in Tokyo, Akihabara News is reporting. Details are scarce, but the Life Microscope, as it is called, looks to be a direct competitor to Philips’ DirectLife and the popular Fitbit devices that use accelerometers to watch a user’s activity levels. The Life Microscope is a watch-like wrist worn device, which raises the question whether arm movements can fool the device into thinking that the whole body is moving.
