Catheter Connections, a Salt Lake CIty, Utah company, has received FDA regulatory approval for its DualCap disinfecting tool to prevent contamination of IV tubing ends. The single use device has two caps containing isopropyl alcohol: one for the needleless injection site and one for the male luer end of IV tubing. The company claims that this simple device has been shown to “significantly reduce the bacterial contamination associated with catheter related blood stream infections”
