MedShape Solutions out of Atlanta, Georgia won in the Implant and Tissue-Replacement Products category of this year’s Medical Design Excellence Awards for the firm’s MORPHIX Anchor. Developed for attaching soft tissue to bone, the device uses a shape-memory polymer to optimize how it holds onto bone.
Designed for the reattachment of soft tissue to bone in a variety of surgical indications. Utilizes PEEK Altera™ shape memory technology and a dynamic wing design to maximize the device bearing area for improved fixation. Unlike static anchor designs, the MORPHIX™ Anchor retains its initial fixation strength even after cyclic loading. The small insertion footprint of the MORPHIX™ 2.5mm Anchor allows anchors to be placed close together or in immediate proximity to desired anatomical landmarks. Inherently robust design eliminates common polymer anchor failure modes, such as eyelet breakage and implant fracture. Preloaded with multiple sutures and delivered ready-to-use on a convenient inserter handle. Quick, simple and reproducible tap-in insertion technique.
