EmSense Corporation out of San Francisco, CA takes marketing research to a whole new level by providing a line of neuromeasurement devices for non-invasive physiological and brainwave analysis specifically for market research. The latest addition is the EmBand 24 which is a headset equipped with 24 EEG sensors, each scanning at 20,000 times per second, collecting 480,000 measurements per second. The technology allows for non-obtrusive measurement of brain signals in response to advertisements without some of the disadvantages of regular EEG’s such as conductive gels or dangling wires. Additionally, the device registers breathing, eye-blinks, head movement, temperature and changes in heart rate. All this data is combined to determine the cognitive and emotional responses to advertising. Our hopes are high for more high-quality advertisements resulting from the use of this device! EmSense has already developed a database of over 150,000 impressions of TV advertisements to provide a benchmark for new ads.
