The world’s most prestigious and challenging big wave surfing contest Mavericks 2010 has been scheduled for tomorrow, February 13. After last year’s absence, the event, that happens just yards from Medgadget International Headquarters in California, is expected to draw crowds of onlookers, up to 100,000 or so. Here’s what you need to do to catch tomorrow’s action:
1. Start driving to Half Moon Bay right now, and sleep overnight by the ocean at Pillar Point, otherwise you will not get in, or
2. Go to AT&T Park to watch the action live on big screen, or
3. Go to MavericksSurf.com and watch the live webcast

As if on cue for Mavericks, the National Weather Service for the San Francisco Bay Area has issued a high surf advisory starting Friday at 10 pm through Saturday afternoon. They are expecting a northwesterly swell of 15 to 18 feet with periods of 18 seconds. Swell of this size will produce large breaking waves and strong rip currents within the surf zone.
