Veran Medical out of St. Louis, Missouri won FDA clearance to market the SPiN Drive System for bronchial analysis and treatment management. The system correlates CT scan data with an electromagnetic navigation system to visualize and pinpoint the location of diseased regions deep within the lungs.
Using electromagnetic navigation, Veran provides minimally invasive access to lesions deep in the lungs. Veran enables physicians to get to the outer 2/3 of the lung accurately and quickly, increasing diagnostic yields for bronchoscopic biopsies and avoiding the need for more costly and higher-risk procedures.
Platform Key Features:
Plug-n-Play Technology
4D respiratory gating
Fusion of multimodality information
Universal & proprietary instrumentation
Pulmonary airway segmentation & annotation
SPiN is uniquely designed to integrate seamlessly into the bronchoscopic procedural workflow. Breakthrough technology creates a 3D model ofhe patient’s bronchial tree and automatically maps the position of broncoschopic tools onto that data without additional intra-procedural steps. Automated Veran plug-n-play technology may help to reduce the length of complicated peripheral access procedures. SPiN monitors and compensates for patient respiration and movement to ensure the most accurate positional information during lung procedure.
SPiN integrates a broad palette of instruments to accommodate clinician preference. For all instrumentation, SPiN tracking technology is seamlessly incorporated into the most critical part of the instrument, allowing for continuous tracking and ensuring that the instrument is always on target.
