Stanford 3D Radiology Now On Flickr

The Stanford Radiology 3D Imaging Laboratory develops computer visualization software to process CT and MRI data to create high quality representations of the body’s anatomy. Now the laboratory has unveiled a Flickr set with some of the more interesting examples of their work. Above is an image displaying cranial sutures that hold a piece of bone attached back to the cranium following surgery. On the side are “3D images of the kidneys and aorta produced via CT angiogram are overlaid on a 2D scan of the upper torso. The yellow spots on the aorta and along the branches of the common iliac arteries are calcified plaque deposits.”
A rep for Stanford University Medical School told Medgadget that the set “showcases some of the most visually appealing and interesting images our lab produces — you’ll see there are cranial sutures, a bypass, an aneurysm, and so on.”
