Nintendo just announced at the E3 Expo that they’ll be releasing a pulse oximetry attachment for the Wii. They’re calling it the Wii Vitality Sensor and announced that the device will “initially sense the user’s pulse and a number of other signals being transmitted by their bodies.” We’re assuming that the “number of other signals” (plural) really means “oxygen saturation” (singular), but it will be interesting to see how Nintendo works this into their games. According to the press release Nintendo wants to “provide information to the users about the body’s inner world.” Maybe the world will see some Wii Fit mash ups? Or it might make for a fun twist in Resident Evil. Pulse too high? Sorry weakling, you’re too scared. Game over.
