Amy Tenderich of Diabetes Mine informs us that VeriChip Corp. plans on announcing details of its glucose monitoring RFID chip that would allow for continuous level reading without the universally hated needle pricks. To be implanted under the skin, the mini device would be able to communicate with an external component, perhaps even a cell phone, and display real time readings to the diabetic or healthcare professional. So the announcement, hopefully with more details, is coming out tomorrow, and we will monitor it. We first reported about VeriChip’s RFID Glucose-Sensing Microchip back in October 2006.
