Every morning I take my dog for a run in the park. Yesterday, I found a dead dog, one that I remember seeing running around the neighborhood the day before. Owners in my neck of the woods tend to be pretty lax about keeping their dogs in the yard, and are unlikely to go to the local shelter to search for a lost pet. What does this have to do with medical devices?
We’re coming up on the 4th of July, which is one of the most traumatic times of the year for your pets, and one of the busiest for shelters. Big fireworks displays (or even smaller ones taking place in your street) cause animals to jump over fences and through windows, completely freaked out by the sounds, lights and smells.
We’d like to encourage you to visit your local veterinarian, shelter or rescue agency where they perform the implant procedure of one of many different brands of RFID tags. They’re too cheap to pass up, and chances are if you’re reading this blog you’ve got the know-how to do it yourself.
Hopefully we can help to avoid strays that stay stray, and get pets out of the shelters as quickly as possible. While we’re at it, let’s consider adopting from the local shelter for our next pet.
