Drinking water from a sparkling mountain stream always sound like a good idea…until Mr. Giardia reaps his revenge in the form of explosive diarrhea. So, if you’re planning on traveling where plentiful clean water will be scarce, consider taking this personal water purifier.
Travelling to far flung places is such an adventure, but dodgy tummies and fatal illnesses from contaminated water kills all the fun. The Personal Water Purifier is a travelling essential for those venturing into the unknown. Pop this compact purifier’s inlet pipe into a handy water source and start pumping the pump. Water will start to flow out of a side pipe and after 2 minutes, the water will be disinfected, filtered and free from any nasties. This nifty little contraption is endorsed by Ray Mears and if there’s a man who knows about survival in the wilds, it’s him. Wherever you are in the world, you can get up to 50 litres of clean water with this brilliant little purifying pump, more than enough to keep you hydrated – don’t leave civilization without it!
Tech jargon:
In operation the source water is initially filtered, cleaning the water as well as removing chemical contamination. This is followed by disinfection using an iodine-resin complex which acts as a contact microbiocide but also releases a low level of iodine into the water for secondary disinfection. The effectiveness of Pocket Travel Well has been proven in tests carried out by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. In these tests total elimination of the bacteria Escherichia coli at 108.4 per litre was recorded whilst reductions of Poliovirus in excess of 99.9%, with a holding time of 2 minutes, were recorded. This effectiveness is maintained throughout the stated treatment capacity of 50 litres, after which it should be discarded. Secondary disinfection occurs during the recommended holding period. Pocket Travel Well is convenient to use and will not block due to its high filtration capability and in-built pump. The rated capacity of Pocket Travel Well is 50 litres.
