Medgadget has learned that the new fancy HD endoscopes (90i-series) and computer-based EPK-i HD Plus Video Processors from Pentax are going to be introduced at the upcoming DDW (Digestive Disease Week) conference in Washington, DC, May 19-24.

The new system consists of the ’90i’ video scope with a megapixel CCD in the image sensor and the ‘EPK-I’ light source processor equipped with advance image processing capabilities.
Pentax suggests the new system is the first endoscopic system to use a megapixel CCD, features an easy to use design, can transfer data in digital form directly from the videoscope to the light source processor, has an image engine with 50 times the computing power compared with Pentax’s current products and utilizes a touch panel for the front panel, the first of its kind for an endoscopic system.
