Fold & Go Emergency Cast

Yoon Bahk, in collaboration with five other design students at the Industrial Design Engineering Department at the Royal College of Art, designed a cheap, folding emergency cast. They were instructed to find examples of “folding in nature” and then use that inspiration to design a functional product. The initial prototype was simple paper, but Bahk says that future models will have inflatable cushioning for support, and will be made of an affordable plastic polymer.
