The NTT DoCoMo breathalyzer phone sends a text message to your boss before you get behind the wheel of your company’s bus or truck. It can’t prevent you from getting behind the wheel, yet, but this is the best gadget-based deterrent against drunk driving we’ve seen.
We recently cited a list called 101 things to do with a mobile phone in healthcare from the Wireless Healthcare group. Surprisingly, acting like a breathalyzer wasn’t on the list, though “Analysis of Breath”, “Self Diagnosis” and “Support for the Addicts” were all there.
They ought to combine this with that phone that measures liver enzymes, so if you get drunk too frequently the phone can assess the likelihood of alcoholic cirrhosis (then, if positive, dial into the liver transplant registry…)
