Here’s another example of shock advertising used to promote public health. According to a website called How Advertising Spoiled Me, an ad agency in Chile placed fake cigarettes on sidewalks. Nicotine-dependent tobacco abusers would pick them up, only to find a flyer inside telling smokers: “It seems not only do you need a cigarette, you also need help.” That’ll learn ’em!
