Compound Semiconductor Magazine is reporting about a collaborative effort between Columbia, SC based company Sensor Electronic Technology, Inc. and Seoul Optodevice Company to produce and implement deep ultraviolet light emitting diodes for a host of applications, including biomedical and clinical.
What’s interesting about these III-Nitride based LEDs is the fact that by emitting wavelengths in the range from 247 nm to 365 nm, they could potentially be used for such things as bacterial contamination sterilisation, water treatment, wound debridements and biomedical diagnostics. Sounds cool?
