According to BBC News, Indian sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik has entered the prestigious World Championships of Sand Sculpture with an idea to spread a message of AIDS awareness. To be held in Vancouver Sept. 5-10, 2006, the competition will showcase a piece by Mr. Patnaik featuring “an eight-feet-tall image of Lord Ganesha, the Hindu elephant god of learning, with a group of people praying to Him to eradicate the scourge of HIV/Aids from the world.”
