Draeger Medical UK Limited has just announced the 1st UK installation of the Zeus® anaesthesia system, “one of the most advanced clinical anesthesia systems in the world,” at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Details of this 21st century gas-passing system make us, local area anesthesiologists, drool. From the product’s page at Dräger:
With Zeus®, spend less time making menial decisions and more time reaching effective solutions. Because Zeus® opens the door to unlimited possibilities in therapy, patient monitoring and documentation, you can not only optimize your clinical workflow throughout the entire patient care process, but also improve your OR cost efficiency.
TurboVent, a revolutionary closed-system ventilator, opens up a new chapter in anesthesia ventilation. By allowing spontaneous respiration in all breathing modes and virtually unlimited inspiratory flow, TurboVent is suitable for all forms of ventilation, even those required in intensive care.
Another innovative feature, the electronic digital injection valve (DIVA), allows for direct injection of all volatile agents.
Besides offering manually controlled fresh-gas delivery, Zeus® can automatically administer oxygen, carrier gas and volatile agents to make Target Controlled Anesthesia (TCA) possible.
With Zeus®, intravenous anesthesia is as easy to administer as volatile anesthesia – you’ll find yourself perfectly equipped for everything from balanced anesthesia to state-of-the-art Total Intravenous Anesthesia (TIVA) and Target Controlled Infusion (TCI).
The ease with which you can operate Zeus is another key benefit. Its unique color touch-screen is fast, intuitive and totally uncomplicated. The window-oriented operating concept offers you not only an overview of all relevant parameters but also of all other diagnosis and trend data, online help functions and an intelligent alarm management system.
What’s more, Zeus® makes a decisive contribution to an ergonomically designed workplace with features such as a height-adjustable swivel screen and optimized cable management for left or right positioning.
Infinity pods – one aspect of our intelligent cable management concept – provide you with quick and easy patient-monitor connections. As a result, you have fewer cables, less clutter and faster work processes at the point of care.
