With all that’s being said about the Danish, and we’re not rehashing the Nobel Prize Controversy of 1926, many people are forgetting about the other defining characteristics of these fun-loving, Lego-building, stereophiles… they also are huge consumers of assisted reproductive technologies (ART).
According a recent article in the International Journal of Andrology, “Denmark is the only country with an established National ART reporting system involving all ART treatments both with the in vitro techniques and intrauterine inseminations. In the year 2002, a total of 20 837 treatment cycles were performed. The result was that 6.2% of all infants were born after assisted reproduction.” That means more than one-in-five lego playing, high-def loving, danish eating toddlers can thank good ‘ol Steptoe and ART for their birthdays!
Thanks for stopping by. See you on Tuesday.
