BIOSAFE Medical Technologies has released a new test for anemia called the Hemo-Quant. According to the press release:
This low cost, single use, disposable unit is for professional use by physicians and hospitals. It will be available to medical professionals beginning April 2006.
Designed and developed to measure hemoglobin levels by BIOSAFE’s research and development team, this FDA approved and CLIA waived device provides a result in less than 10 minutes that is both easy to understand and as accurate as a standard laboratory analysis. The product will be available through major medical products distributors and will be priced to support third party reimbursement.
“Our goal is to bring products to market that benefit both the healthcare professional and the consumer. The BIOSAFE family of products for anemia testing serves both the consumer with the BIOSAFE AnemiaPro and the BIOSAFE Anemia Meter and now the medical professional with the BIOSAFE Hemo-Quant. The new BIOSAFE Hemo-Quant distinguishes itself by providing a quick, easy and reliable way for physicians and other healthcare professionals to test for anemia in their offices or non-clinical settings at a price that is consistent with current reimbursement guidelines.” said BIOSAFE’s Chief Science Officer, Jack Maggiore, PhD. “We’re confident that by providing an accurate, convenient, and inexpensive means of anemia detection, many more of those at risk for this dangerous condition will be identified.”
