Finally, a product from the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that we can cover. The folks at Air^2™ have developed a way to extract the “essential material” out of whatever herbs (cough) you’re smoking without actually burning anything. According to the product page:
If you seek the natural way to support your decision to quit smoking, try the NicoHale® system from Air 2™. An all-natural, vaporizer-based support system, NicoHale® is a flavor delivery device that operates on the principles of aromatherapy. The NicoHale® system includes a digital vaporizer, soft case, essential oil blend, one-week supply of herbal disks, and The Complete Genius’s Guide to Quitting Smoking audio CD and book. After you’ve quit, you can use the vaporizer to inhale the pure essence of any herb or plant.
The Nicohale System is $399.99, and sets of herbal disks are $29.99 each. They also offer dietary supplements to go with the system at $19.99 for a week’s supply.
The whole thing treads dangerously close to hokum for our taste. No mention of any major medical body (FDA, American Heart Assoc., etc) endorsing it. On the other hand, if this cuts the amount of tar accumulating in someone’s lungs, that’s a good thing.
