The Associated Press is reporting that “CryoCor Inc. said Thursday that regulators accepted its application for a device to treat irregular heart rhythms, an early step on the path to government approval”. The company is seeking approval for its cryoablation system for treatment of the atrial flutter.
The company describes the pros of its cryoablation catheter:
The Catheter – 10F Design Maximizes Lesion Size
The bi-polar CryoCor CryoBlator™ Series of Cryoablation Catheters combines the safeguard of robust 10F coaxial catheter design with the two-stage cooling system of the CryoCor Cardiac Cryoablation Console to maximize the delivery of cryoenergy to the ablation site. CryoCor’s Cryoablation catheters and console work together to create the transmural lesions necessary to permanently disrupt cardiac arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter.
The steerable catheter can be articulated up to 180° to facilitate precise placement. An ergonomic handle enables easy, single-handed fingertip operation of integrated steering lever and brake mechanisms. Ablations can be tailored to meet individual patient needs…
