The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services launched its new hospital rating website, Hospital Comparison. The site is advertised for use by patients to help them discover “how well the hospitals in [their] area care for all their adult patients with certain medical conditions. This information will help [them] compare the quality of care hospitals provide.” The goals are good, but cursory examination showed that a lot of information is still missing. The tool might yet prove to be a useful device for patients as well as doctors who want to work in successful environment.
