The famous Reith Lectures are scheduled for another broadcast over at BBC Radio starting today. This year’s Reith Lecturer is the distinguished Lord Alec Broers who is President of the Royal Academy of Engineering and Chairman of the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee. The big topic for this year is The Triumph of Technology. The first lecture to be broadcast today at 8:00 pm GMT is titled Technology will Determine the Future of the Human Race. To hear it live go here. Once the lecture audio and transcripts become available, we will provide the link.
Our readers will also be interested in the 2003 lecture series by Vilayanur S Ramachandran, a neuroscientist who rather intuitively describes the strange and idiosyncratic workings of the brain.
Also, the BBC has just opened a ballot box to nominate the greatest invention of the last 200 years. Head there to enter your pick!
